Introduction: Warren Kozak

Hi everyone! My name is Warren Kozak, and I am a sophomore from Houston, Texas. I am planning to declare my major as computer science this spring, and I might try to do a minor in math. Last year, I greatly enjoyed my software design and advanced software design classes. These courses partially inspired me to apply to this role, as I enjoyed building the backend logic of my projects and working with tools such as Docker, PostgreSQL, and Flask to get them to run. Additionally, the combination of humanities and technology is something that interests me, as I believe this crossover has potential to create meaningful digital experiences.

Aside from academics, I am a member of the Men’s Swimming and Diving team here at Carleton, where I primarily swim mid-distance freestyle and butterfly. I also enjoy playing board games with my family, cuddling with my dog, and doing outdoor activities, such as biking.

This is my first year working as a DSI, and I am the 2024-2025 Backend Digital Scholarship Intern. I am very excited to take on this role, and I hope to further improve my skills in backend software development as well as learn new tools. Specifically, I want to continue to improve skills in team communication and project management software, such as Git.

Finally, here is a picture of my dog, Poppy, who is currently back home in Houston!
