Winter Term Wrap-Up

As this term comes to a close, I wanted to write one final blog post reflecting on the last few things I worked on and what I’m most excited about moving forward.

Compared to the previous term, I felt much more comfortable with the flow of the work and the structure of our meetings. Having spent more time with the team, I had a clearer sense of what needed to happen in each meeting and what I should be bringing to the table. That familiarity made it easier to contribute more meaningfully to discussions and projects.

Beyond the Leganto project that I helped work on throughout the term, one of the most interesting directions I explored came from a reading I brought to the group. The reading focused on students with disabilities and how AI tools can be incorporated into classroom settings in ways that make learning more accessible. That topic sparked a lot of interest for me, particularly around how AI might be thoughtfully integrated into education while still considering equity and accessibility. I would definitely be interested in exploring this area further next term.

I also really enjoyed the way this internship connected with themes from my coursework. Many of our conversations touched on questions about merit, fairness, and how systems can be designed more intentionally, especially as AI becomes more present in educational environments. Thinking about how younger students, particularly those in K–12 settings, are already beginning to interact with AI tools also raised interesting questions about what responsible integration might look like across different school levels.

Looking ahead, I would be interested in exploring the integration of AI in education more deeply, potentially across different stages of schooling. As Sarah mentioned to me, developing a portfolio project around this topic could be a valuable direction to pursue next term.

In terms of finalizing work from this term, I recently completed my CC Signals piece, A New Social Contract for the Age of AI, which I will be sending over shortly. Our team also wrapped up the Leganto project this past week by finalizing our findings and compiling the research we gathered throughout the term. This included writing up the results of our surveys, summarizing student responses, and reflecting on our own experiences using the platform over the course of the project.

Overall, this term helped me better understand how AI conversations are unfolding within educational spaces, and I’m excited to keep exploring some of these questions in future work.
