Hey y’all,
It’s sad to say, but my final fall term at Carleton has come to an end. This year I started a new job as the Backend Intern for Digital Scholarship at Carleton, and I’ve been learning a lot over the past ten weeks. One of the first things I learned was about digital humanities! I came into this position without knowing anything about the subject, but I have learned so much. First, I feel like I have a better understanding of the field and the types of work in it. Second, I have a better understanding of the qualities that make digital humanities projects unique. And, most importantly, I have a better understanding of how my work as a Backend Intern contributes to these projects.
Another subject that I have been learning about is accessibility. I knew very little about it and never really thought about it. However, I feel that I am more conscious about accessibility thanks to all the readings and the conversations we’ve had about the impact and the importance of accessibility. I still have so much more to learn, and I am excited to continue learning throughout the year.
